Bloombridge Consulting in conjunction with the Young Catholic Professionals Ss Philip and James, Idado, Lekki organized a career fair. The objective of the career fair was to match job seekers with business owners in the church, over thirty business owners participated and benefited from the career fair.
By holding the career fair annually, we hope to reduce the high level of unemployment amongst our youth. We also hope to coach these youths and make them valuable and employable to the labor market.
The Head of Human Resources for bloombridge consulting, Mrs Rita Okoro also gave an insightful talk about the services rendered by Bloombridge Consulting Ltd and how they benefit job seekers and business owners alike.
Mrs Anike Odunlami, General Manager for Research, Chevron Nigeria Ltd graced the career fair with her amiable presence and gave an insightful talk on how to prepare for a new job. Some of the salient points from her talk were that;
. Location should not be a barrier for not taking a job opportunity.
. Be ready to work outside your comfort zone.
. Preparing one self for an higher position.
. Building up experience at every opportunity.
Afterwards, over four hundred (400) job seekers were interviewed by designated Human Resources Consultants and their CVs were Screened. Upon assessing the job seekers, they were sorted and grouped into roles which they were best suited for.
In addition to assessing the job seekers, a career coach was also present to coach the job seekers one-on-one, and help them prepare well for future job interviews. In addition; the career coach
- Advised them on ways to better modify their CVs
- Advised them on ways to build and manage their careers successfully
- Put them through on the best ways to respond to interview questions
- Put them through on how to be ready for job interviews
In conclusion, the career fair was a huge success, and job seekers have already been contacted to meet with some employers; some have been hired as well. Roles which some of the job seekers were invited for include; marketers, app developers, field sales representatives, drivers, accountant, digital marketers, IT Officers, Retail Marketers, business development Officers, Logistics Officers, Receptionists Etc.
Bloombridge Consulting remains dedicated to alleviating the high rate of unemployment amongst Nigerian youths, by digging out talented individuals, grooming them, and making them valuable and attractive to employers of labor.
